Peer Review Process

Setiap naskah yang dikirimkan ke Sovereign: Journal of Transnational and Transborder Studies akan melalui proses evaluasi yang transparan dan akuntabel melalui tahapan berikut:

  1. Pemeriksaan Awal (Initial Screening): Editor akan melakukan pemeriksaan awal terhadap naskah terkait kesesuaian dengan ruang lingkup (focus & scope), kepatuhan pada petunjuk penulisan (author guidelines), serta tingkat kemiripan teks (plagiarism check dengan ambang batas maksimal 20%). Naskah yang tidak memenuhi kriteria dasar ini akan ditolak (desk reject) atau dikembalikan ke penulis untuk direvisi sebelum ditelaah.

  2. Double-Blind Peer Review: Naskah yang lolos seleksi awal akan dikirimkan kepada minimal dua (2) orang penelaah eksternal (peer reviewers) yang memiliki kepakaran di bidangnya. Proses penelaahan menerapkan metode Double-Blind Peer Review, di mana identitas penulis dan penelaah dirahasiakan satu sama lain.

  3. Keputusan Editorial (Editorial Decision): Proses penelaahan umumnya memakan waktu 3–6 minggu. Berdasarkan rekomendasi dari para penelaah, Editor akan membuat keputusan akhir yang dikategorikan sebagai berikut:

    • Accept Submission (Diterima tanpa revisi)

    • Revisions Required (Diterima dengan revisi minor/mayor)

    • Resubmit for Review (Ditinjau ulang setelah revisi mendasar)

    • Decline Submission (Ditolak)

  4. Penerbitan: Naskah yang telah direvisi dan disetujui secara final akan diterbitkan secara elektronik melalui sistem Open Journal Systems (OJS) dan dapat diakses secara terbuka (Open Access).

All manuscripts submitted to Sovereign: Journal of Transnational and Transborder Studies undergo a rigorous, transparent, and objective evaluation through the following stages:

  1. Initial Screening: The Editor conducts an initial assessment regarding the manuscript's alignment with the journal's focus & scope, adherence to author guidelines, and similarity index (plagiarism check using Turnitin, with a maximum threshold of 20%). Submissions failing to meet these baseline criteria will be desk-rejected or returned for preliminary revisions.

  2. Double-Blind Peer Review: Manuscripts passing the initial screening are assigned to at least two (2) independent external peer reviewers with relevant expertise. The journal strictly employs a Double-Blind Peer Review process, ensuring that the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential.

  3. Editorial Decision: The review process typically takes 3–6 weeks. Based on the reviewers' evaluations and recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision, categorised as:

    • Accept Submission (Accept as is)

    • Revisions Required (Minor or major revisions needed)

    • Resubmit for Review (Requires major overhaul and re-evaluation)

    • Decline Submission (Rejected)

  4. Publication: Manuscripts accepted for publication undergo copyediting and layout process before being published digitally under an Open Access model on our OJS platform.
